Terms of Service

Last updated: October 23, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the WholeLifeLog website at www.wholelifelog.com (the "Website"), our waitlist, and the WholeLifeLog mobile app and its encrypted backup service (the "App"; together, the "Service"), provided by J. Ahn ("WholeLifeLog", "we", "us").

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. The Service

WholeLifeLog helps you plan, track and reflect on personal goals, structured as 40 day challenges. The App stores your journal on your device and offers an optional backup: your data is encrypted on your device and the encrypted file is stored on our servers so you can restore it later. The Website provides information about WholeLifeLog, a blog, and a waitlist for launch updates.

The Service is a personal productivity and journaling tool. It is not medical, psychological, fitness, financial or professional advice. Any challenge ideas, plans or content we provide are general information; consult a qualified professional before starting a fitness or health programme.

2. Eligibility

The Service is available to people of all ages. If you are under 14 (or under the age of digital consent where you live, such as 13 in the United States), you must have a parent or guardian's consent before creating an account, using backup or joining the waitlist. If you are a minor, your parent or guardian should review these Terms with you.

3. Your account

Some features of the App, including backup, require an account. Sign-in is provided by our authentication provider, Clerk; you can sign in with your email address or a supported Google or Apple account. Backup is optional and happens only when you choose to back up. You are responsible for:

  • keeping your sign-in credentials secure;
  • all activity under your account; and
  • remembering your backup passphrase. Backups are encrypted on your device with a key we never receive. We cannot recover, reset or decrypt your backup if you lose your passphrase.

Tell us promptly at wholelifelog@gmail.com if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

4. Your content

You own your content. Your plans, logs, notes, reflections and backups ("Your Content") belong to you.

Because backups are encrypted on your device, we store them as encrypted files without access to their contents. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store, transmit and return your encrypted backup to you, and to delete it when you ask. This permission ends when you delete your backup or account, except for any brief period needed to complete deletion.

You are responsible for Your Content and for keeping your own copies. Each new backup replaces the previous one; we keep only the most recent backup for each account.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for anything unlawful, or to store or transmit content that infringes others' rights;
  • attempt to access other users' accounts or data, or to bypass authentication or security measures;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by overloading it, uploading malware, or circumventing limits (for example, the 20 MB backup size limit);
  • reverse engineer the Service except where the law allows it despite this restriction; or
  • use the waitlist or any part of the Service to send spam or submit other people's information without their permission.

6. Fees

The Service is currently provided free of charge. If we introduce paid features in the future, we will tell you the price and terms before you buy, and nothing will be charged without your agreement.

7. Intellectual property

Except for Your Content, the Service and its content — including the WholeLifeLog name and logo, characters and illustrations, software, website text and blog articles — are owned by WholeLifeLog or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. You may use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use. You may share links to our articles, but you may not copy or republish our content or artwork without permission.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.

8. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers, including Cloudflare (hosting, storage and analytics), Neon (database) and Clerk (sign-in), and lets you sign in with Google or Apple accounts. If you download the App from the Apple App Store or Google Play, their terms also apply to your download and use of the App. We are not responsible for third-party services we don't control.

If you downloaded the App from Apple's App Store: these Terms are between you and WholeLifeLog only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App (including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims). To the extent the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, which may refund the purchase price (if any); Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Your use of the App must also comply with the App Store's usage rules.

9. Availability and changes to the Service

We may change, suspend or discontinue features of the Service. We aim to keep backups available, but the Service is provided without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability, and you should not rely on our backup as your only copy of important information. If we discontinue the backup service, we will try to give reasonable notice so you can restore your data first.

10. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and that the Service will be error-free or that data will never be lost. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so some of the above may not apply to you.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, WholeLifeLog will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the Service — including loss of access to an encrypted backup because a passphrase was lost. Because the Service is provided free of charge, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) KRW 10,000 (or the equivalent in your local currency).

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for gross negligence or wilful misconduct where applicable, or your statutory consumer rights.

12. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for claims, losses and reasonable costs that third parties bring against WholeLifeLog because of your intentional or negligent misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms or of others' rights.

13. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service at any time. You can delete your backup in the App, and delete your account using the delete account option in the App (or by emailing wholelifelog@gmail.com from the address linked to your account). Deleting your account also deletes any backup stored on our servers. You can unsubscribe from WholeLifeLog emails at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users. Where reasonable, we will tell you first. If your account is terminated, we will delete your backup within 30 days, so please restore any data you need.

Sections 4 (ownership), 7, 10, 11, 12 and 15 survive termination.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will update the date above and notify you in the App or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to the Service will be brought before the court having jurisdiction over the operator's location in Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do (the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Court), unless the law of your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts. If you are a consumer, you keep any protections given to you by the mandatory laws of your country. Before filing a claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally.
